Long flowing hair… flowery dresses… a beautiful smile… Ah yes, it’s summer. The sun is still shining and every female looks like the essence of summer itself. Conclusion; I want a Summer Girl. To run along the beach with, lie in the park with, eat ice cream with and to lavish with summery flowers and such. Generally doing a myriad of summery things with.

Think of a bee. You are its knees. You waft through me like a summer’s breeze. Can I come round on Tuesday please? - Bernard, Black Books; Fever.

I just never know how personal to make this bloggie thingie. I know I really shouldn’t. It’s that whole thing of really wanting to do something, but when it comes to the time of doing it, you realise it just ain’t right. I think thats right in this case, unlike that thing that you really should do but just plain don’t cos you ain’t got the balls to carry it through.

It’s that particular feeling that holds me back from so much, and the essence of what I’ve been thinking about over the last week or so.

I am too much of a personal person - yeah that makes no sense, I’m aware of that… I think a lot. I think too much. Thinking about everything about twenty times before actually doing it. This often leads to not actually doing, or saying, whatever it is. Of course I do occasionally say, and do, some pretty stupid stuff; that’s certainly no good either. I also generally regret it later. Everyone does stupid things.

In the last 2 weeks there have just been too many times when this has happened (not the saying stupid stuff) and it’s certainly not something that normally happens as often.

Hopefully this isn’t just a total bunch of crap that will make absolutely no sense to anyone… Yet at the same time, I don’t want it to make to much sense (yes I’m trying to be as subtle as possible), it just feels good to get it out.

So I almost feel that the time may have passed. I may have lost out. All the opportunities to say a few words in the last couple of weeks. It only really occurred to me recently that I feel this way. If I can’t do it now, will I ever be able to do it?

It just takes confidence - some balls, and confidence. To know what comes next. Does anything ‘come next’? Will anything ever come next? Putting yourself out there and making a move its tough. But heck, today I wore one red shoe and one green shoe - I can do anything!

Enough crap.  Here’s a teaser of whats to come in the next few days

lynx click
I got my Lynx Click today. I put my details in a few weeks ago to get this - but completely forgot about it. Obviously its pretty useless really, yes the next number in sequence appears when you press the ‘clicker,’ but it kept me entertained for a few mins. I cant even find the website I got it from now.

the meeting

Tuesday 7th March

This evening I finally met Gavin from HeadphoneLand, and let me tell you, it’s really weird talking in so much depth about the internet, blogging and digital photography to someone face to face. I say weird, it is also wonderful. I’m sure there are others out there who agree, that the few friends they have who speak ‘internet’ are a godsend.

Unfortunately, we have yet to get our accommodation sorted for our trip to Dublin for the Irish Blog Awards, which are being held at the Alexander Hotel, this saturday (11th march). For some reason, completely unknown to me, I decided to leave it far too late. Now most places are booked out, and those that aren’t are charging a lot more than I had every hoped to pay.

I’m not one to ask for help from stranger’s too often, so I wont do it again and I’ll make it quick. If anyone can offer any suggestions as to how we can get two beds in dublin next saturday, preferably as close to the Alexander Hotel as possible please don’t hessitate to let me know!

Edit - its all worked out well in the end. Managed to find get vacancies at Avalon House

I am really looking forward to the day when talking about the internet and blogs becomes part of the norm; when those who use the internet rather than whatever else people do, can be ‘outted’ and the internet becomes socially acceptable.

I say this because I still find that I come across as the biggest nerd when I speak about computers and the internet with my non-internet folk (i.e. most of my friends), so I try not to do it too often. Yet in certain circles I would probably even be considered a ‘n00b‘.

Yet one more reason (or a major reason) why I am looking forward to the blog awards is the chance to meet the people behind the computer screens, the ‘virtual friend’ to us all; the writer of words and creator photographs, the provider of information and giver of hope: that I am not the only one who would much rather spend their time doing something that it seems the majority of the population does not.
