I’m really having a lot of trouble getting a WordPress theme I really like. The one I have at the minute ‘Andreas04 2.0‘ was beginning to grow on me, but I’ve just discovered that in each entry page the title (in the top title bar) says the words “Andreas04: Close to Attraction’. My unfortunate lack of coding knowledge means that I will have to find another one. I just can’t find the perfect theme.
I do have some ideas of my ‘perfect theme’ - qualities if you will.
- I don’t want it to stretch the whole width of the page. Really just enough for 500px width pictures in posts.
- 2 columns
- A header picture (I don’t know how to alter the code myself to put one in).
- No crazy bright colours
- Ideally, the date at the top
- The categories the entry is in should be in the post, near the post title or at the bottom of the post.
- The ‘pages’ links should be in the header
- Simple colours and feel
- Widget compatible!
I really feel that the design of your website/blog tells a lot about the person, and I won’t be satisfied until I find the one I feel reflects me.

If you’ve any questions about changing themes once you’ve got them and if I can answer them I’ll give a hand. (such as removing the theme name from the title). Gone through and made or changed about two dozen WP themes in the last year, my own blog (kenmc.com) currently on its 8th theme since october 05.
My advice is take note of what you want in the theme, trawl through themes.wordpress.net to get what you’re looking for or at least something very close to it and start customising from there.
e.g. look for a two column theme that has page links in the header and can support a header image - the width, colours etc can all be changed by the stylesheet and printing the category name in the post is just a simple wordpress function.
check codex.wordpress.org for all the functions and tips on how to use them.
Thanks guys for the tips. I think I have found the one I may keep. Gonna play around with it a bit too before moving on.
Looks Good Now!
You ever thought of trying blogger? ;-)
I have tried using blogger actually - and I don’t like it much. Plus I don’t want a blogspot address. Each to their own.
I was having the same problem with the page title tat you are. I fixed it by going into the page template (page.php) and replacing
with

Good luck.
